Please watch this brief video about what to expect when working with The Reading Gal.

  • 30-minute ‘meet-and-greet’ with you and the reader to talk about reading goals and determine if we are a good fit to work together

  • 1.5 hour long consultation with myself and the reader to assess the reader for his/her strengths and weaknesses and learn more about his/her reading goals.

  • Discussion of action plan including input from all applicable parties involved (i.e child, parents, teachers)

  • Sessions are weekly or biweekly.

  • Sessions are 1-hour long and held in your home. (It is important for the reader to feel at ease. Working in his/her own home helps provide a sense of familiarity.)

  • Supplies needed for each tutoring session will be provided by me. Please prepare a well-lit, quiet and open area where we can work during sessions. The kitchen table or an office desk is often a great place.

  • Each session can include up to 4 readers per hour. (This is helpful for families who have multiple children that need extra reading attention. Each reader will need to go through the 1.5 hour initial consultation to devise an individualized plan of action for each person participating in the session).

  • Number of sessions will be determined in process and based on reading goals devised in the initial consultation. We will all do our best to make reaching individual reading goals enjoyable and efficient.
